Kanye VMA Outburst + Health Care

Just kind of brilliant.

Around the Bend

I was on the iTunes store, just browsing around, its actually a pretty good way to discover new bands, anyway, in the Just For You section, iTunes had recommended me a band called The Morning Benders. Usually, I'm not a huge fan of their recommendations, but not this time... This Californian group is quite good, it's sweet, summery and not over complicated by unnecessary sounds. I'm excited for future albums. Please enjoy one song off their most recent album Talking Through Tin Cans, and a Paul Simon cover...

I am a rock, I am an Islands' fan

The Montreal-based band is back with their third album, Vapours, which comes out today (the 22nd)! I have a feeling I'm going to like it no matter what. I happen to be a big fan of anything Nicholas Thorburn (aka. Nick Diamonds) does; whether he's with The Unicorns, Human Highway, or in this case, Islands. Judging by the cover and the brief listening that I did do, Vapours seems to be more of a dance album compared to previous albums, oh well, dancing's always a good thing.

Enjoy the title track...

Skype

Moving to a new city can be really difficult sometimes. Exciting, don't get me wrong - but it can be hard to communicate with people back home without being hit with a massive long-distance phone bill. This is where Skype comes in. Here is a really cute video with clever choreography using the Skype program. If you don't have Skype, download it here.

Polaroid Love

I really miss Polaroids. It is instantly gratifying getting your photo right away. Digital essentially does the same thing, but then you have to go out and actually print the pictures... and who has time for that anymore? We can't have real Polaroids anymore, but I have found the next best thing. It is a program called "Poladroid" that essentially creates Polaroids on your desktop. Download it free here. Enjoy, and remember: don't shake it. :)

Cardigan Power

Since fall is just around the corner, I feel that now it would be appropriate to write a post about the most wonderful clothing article on earth, the cardigan. My co-blogger and I are big fans of cardigans,  due to the fact that they are casual and relaxed, yet less sloppy than a sweatshirt, extremely versatile, and that they require less effort and fuss than a pullover, and as it also turns out, they're currently in fashion, check out Missoni's spring 2010 menswear show... click here. Urban Outfitters also has some decent cardigans, but may I suggest checking out the men's sweater section at your local thrift-store for those really special finds.

Princeton, the Band

This Los Angeles-based band's debut album Cocoon of Love is to be released September 29th. I like their sound, it reminds me of an ocean; it can be playful and breezy, but still maintains depth and mystery. You can  find out what the rest of the album sounds like on Sept. 29th, but for now, do enjoy...

Folky Monsters

The members of Monsters of Folk are an eclectic mix of musicians belonging to some relatively well-known bands; there's Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and M. Ward of She & Him. This project originally formed in 2004, but their first album The Monsters of Folk is to be released September the twenty-second. Each of the following three songs have their unique sound, Say Please is distinctively Oberst's style.

1. The Sandman, The Brakeman, And Me
2. Say Please
3. Dear God (Sincerely M.O.F.)
